Its foray in Messaging (e.g. RCS and its messaging apps) is also not expected to do well. See here.

Google is on the wrong track.
Because, the 2 basic insights that they have been betting on, are wrong:
- A product’s success is mainly due to Technology and less due to Product Management
- An organization can successfully work on multiple moonshot ideas at a time
